On Monday and Tuesday this week, we traveled to Gainesville, GA to visit the campus of Adventures in Missions.  This visit gave us an opportunity to meet the people who serve with AIM and hear their vision for Cambodia.

Gainesville is nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains and has Lake Lanier at the heart of the area.   The dogwoods, azaleas and wisteria were all in full bloom.  It was breathtaking to see spring at its peak.  On the way, we stopped to visit my (Vikki’s) Uncle Barry and Aunt Dorothy and attend Rockdale Baptist Church with them.  I was able to sit in church with my great-aunt Barbara (my grandmother’s sister). We had a great time of fellowship with their Sunday School class and worshipping together in the service.

Monday morning became with a time of worship with the staff of Adventures in Missions.  As we sang these lyrics,

“I let out the sails of my heart
Here I am, here You are
I let out the sails of my heart
Here I am, here You are”

I thought how God is calling each of us step out of our comfort zones where ever we are.  God doesn’t want us to always be “safe.”  He wants us to trust HIM and go where He leads.  That might be across the street, across town, or across the ocean, but God always goes before us.  I have a sign in my living room that reads, “the will of God will never take you where the grace of God won’t protect you.”  We are learning each day to trust God more.  Trust him with my marriage, my family, my finances, my past, present and future.  Trusting God is a choice.  We can let fear and worry over take us if we don’t choose to trust God.  Fear and worry will grip us and constrain us from the will of God.  God is so much bigger!  He has tremendous plans for each of us.  His plans are so much better than we could ever dream or imagine ourselves.  He is worth it all!

On the way home, we stopped in McDonough, GA to meet Codi Schutz and his beautiful wife, Chandler.  Codi was a leader with us to Uganda.  We had a great time recalling many memories from our summer together.  We are praying for Codi and Chandler as they lead a team from their church back to Uganda this summer.

We are back “home” again and starting the crazy process of preparing to move to Cambodia in August.  There is so much to do…so many details to take care of, but each day brings more excitement and anticipation of what is to come.

Let the ADVENTURE begin!
